DigitalQuixote  > World Photos - Europe > Croatia 2007 > Island of Vis
The Island of Vis is a small but beautiful place. It's about 15 km long by 6-8 km wide. It's rugged, and beautiful, and troubled. The trouble is that it has a wildly seasonal attraction for tourists and yachties. Its economy booms from June to September by goes dormant and dies back during the rest of the year. Home to 3,500 permanent residents, it is trying to develop a year round economy without destroying itself. To this end, it is putting great emphasis on creating a sustainable economy ... the reason for my business trip.

These photos were taken in December 2007 mostly with a Nikon D200.
